In 1989 he sojourned to Europe and since 1992 has lived on the island of Murano, Italy, working as artistic director and designer at the Franco Schiavon Glass Factory. Adapting the techniques of those masters that surround him, Tsuchida is forging a unique and personal style, combining a strong eastern sense of beauty with a contemporary, urban edge and sometimes playful Italian colours. His harmonious, luminescent half-moon vases or his more chromatically casual "Funtime Cups" reflect how Tsuchida navigates through the traditional world of glassblowing with a modern instinct. Vetro Magazine recently wrote about his work, "He is a perfect craftsman who understands his craft in all its details, and makes perfect use of the possibilities which each material offers him." Each of his works has it's unique personality, making it easy to recognize and appreciate the work of Tsuchida Yasuhiko. Since 2001 one of his works can be found in the stock of the Duesseldorf museum. The same year Tsuchy was one of the persons opening a glass school in Venice.
